9 - 28Sandbagged!
|
With my new tires I was able to blast through Northern Arizona in record time, catching enough daylight for a gorgeous sunset ride near the rim of the Grand Canyon.
Then I met up with my friend Mike Thompson in Flagstaff. Hes the guy who caught me on my 160-foot fall and I hadnt seen him in years. We ate burgers made from a goat hed slaughtered that afternoon and stayed up late catching up.
I chose Flagstaff because of the Priest Draw bouldering area would be cool enough to allow me to get in some good mileage. When I woke up, it was raining. This was totally out of the blue. In fact, the local NPR news said it was suppose to be sunny. I went out to Priest anyway because its steep but it was still too wet for a quality session. Sandbagged!
Cut my losses and headed out to Albuquerque for a quiet evening alone to watch the Olympics and write.
